About Us

About Shaun

I am a Certified Massage Therapist specializing in injury rehabilitation and chronic pain management. I started out having an interest in this type of treatment work due to personal experience. I was in a motorcycle accident as a teenager that left me with chronic back and neck pain. Doctors just wanted to prescribe muscle relaxers, but I finally found a good deep-tissue massage therapist that was actually able to help me. This made a lasting impression and after high school, I worked 3 jobs for a while until I could afford to move here and attend the Boulder College of Massage Therapy. I have over 5 years experience of deep tissue/ neuromuscular work. I have treated patients for work, sports and motor vehicle related injuries. Symptoms I address include headaches, neck and back pain, as well as range of motion issues. I incorporate a lot of stretching and joint movement. My wife is a CMT as well, and we have offices in Boulder and Longmont.  Please call for an appointment.... Shaun Meyer CMT 303.818.4140

About Carla

I'm Carla, or Carly as some people call me. I was born in Columbus Ohio, raised in Athens Ohio and I lived there until I was 19 years old. Athens is an awesome little college town tucked away in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. It is very green and lush because of all of the rain... lots and lots of rain. So, when I left Ohio, I was New York bound!! I lived in upstate New York for almost 5 years. I was in Middleton and I was in Pine Bush and I was in Walden until almost five years passed and I decided that New York was not the place for me! A good friend of mine told me about this great little town in Colorado called Boulder. She told me about the bike trails and the sunshine, the organic food markets and the pearl street mall. She knew I was interested in going to massage school so she even found me a great school. The Boulder College of Massage Therapy. Boulder had it all! So I packed up my few belongings and off to Boulder I drove... and that's how I got here.

When I graduated from school early in 2001, I got a couple of great jobs right away. I started working with a chiropractor in  Longmont helping patients who had been in automobile accidents. I also started working at Boulder Community Hospital in the employee massage program. When the Chiropractor I was working with moved out of state, early in 2004, I took on another position with Boulder Community Hospital. I started working for the Occupational Health department. Now I work with patients who get hurt on the job. My work is very interesting and quite rewarding. I work with a great group of doctors, physical therapists and occupational therapists at the hospital in Boulder.

Shaun and I opened our home office in Longmont in June of 2003.  Come and see us!!  Carla Meyer CMT...303.817.4742  Shaun Meyer CMT...303.818.4140

More Benifits of Massage

A Powerful Ally
There’s no denying the power of bodywork. Regardless of the adjectives we assign to it (pampering, rejuvenating, therapeutic) or the reasons we seek it out (a luxurious treat, stress relief, pain management), massage therapy can be a powerful ally in your healthcare regimen.

Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. While eliminating anxiety and pressure altogether in this fast-paced world may be idealistic, massage can, without a doubt, help manage stress. This translates into:

  • Decreased anxiety.
  • Enhanced sleep quality.
  • Greater energy.
  • Improved concentration.
  • Increased circulation.
  • Reduced fatigue.

Furthermore, clients often report a sense of perspective and clarity after receiving a massage. The emotional balance bodywork provides can often be just as vital and valuable as the more tangible physical benefits

Effects of massage

Profound Effects
In response to massage, specific physiological and chemical changes cascade throughout the body, with profound effects. Research shows that with massage:

  • Arthritis sufferers note fewer aches and less stiffness and pain.
  • Asthmatic children show better pulmonary function and increased peak air flow.
  • High blood pressure patients demonstrate lower diastolic blood pressure, anxiety, and stress hormones.
  • Premenstrual syndrome sufferers have decreased water retention and cramping.

Research continues to show the enormous benefits of touch—which range from treating chronic diseases, neurological disorders, and injuries, to alleviating the tensions of modern lifestyles. Consequently, the medical community is actively embracing bodywork, and massage is becoming an integral part of hospice care and neonatal intensive care units. Many hospitals are also incorporating on-site massage practitioners and even spas to treat postsurgery or pain patients as part of the recovery process.

Increase the Benefits with Frequent Visits
Getting a massage can do you a world of good. And getting massage frequently can do even more. This is the beauty of bodywork. Taking part in this form of regularly scheduled self-care can play a huge part in how healthy you’ll be and how youthful you’ll remain with each passing year. Budgeting time and money for bodywork at consistent intervals is truly an investment in your health. And remember: just because massage feels like a pampering treat doesn’t mean it is any less therapeutic. Consider massage appointments a necessary piece of your health and wellness plan, and work with your practitioner to establish a treatment schedule that best meets your needs.
